Is it bad for a motorcycle to run it with no exhaust pipe?

I was just wondering, I saw video's on youtube of people's street-bikes that they've take the slip ons off so that it was just a straight pipe to the engine, I was wondering if this is bad for the bike or if it decreases power?
The only risk would be burning up your valves. Running any engine without a manifold or exhaust pipe does not allow the cylinder head to displace enough heat. Combined with the direct exposure to the atmosphere (which has O2 in it....) causes the cylinder
