Changing the oil on a 2005-2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5?

I have a Jetta 2.5 and I need to change the oil, but friends and family members have told me that the cost of an oil change on an expensive car at a dealer will set me back about $200 or something...
That seems crazy, I know!
Supposedly
Firstly,you can change the oil and filter yourself; be sure and replace the drain plug gasket on the oil pan at each oil change and use a new "o" ring on the oil filter outer cannister when you replace the filter. Sadly, VW has gone back to
